Canopius Group has announced the appointment of Micia Yong as Head of Property & Specialty Treaty for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, effective 4 July 2025. Yong, who brings over 16 years of expertise in reinsurance underwriting and broking, will be based in Singapore and report directly to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, CEO APAC & MENA.
Yong joins Canopius from Gallagher Re Singapore, where she served as Executive Director, Strategic Solutions APAC. Her previous roles include senior underwriting positions at Munich Re and Axis Specialty, as well as broking experience at Guy Carpenter. Notably, she was named Lloyd’s Treaty Broker of the Year in 2023, highlighting her impact and calibre in the industry.
In her new position, Yong will oversee Canopius’ Property & Specialty Treaty portfolio across APAC, focusing on enhancing reinsurance capabilities and delivering innovative client solutions. SK Lee commented on the appointment, stating, “Micia’s extensive experience and deep understanding of the APAC reinsurance landscape make her an exceptional addition to our underwriting capability.”
