Toshiba Asia Pacific is showcasing its latest quantum-safe network platform at Asia Tech Singapore (ATxSG) 2025, in collaboration with SpeQtral and Ciena. This initiative aims to prepare Singaporean businesses for the quantum era by integrating Toshiba’s Multiplexed Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology with Ciena’s high-capacity modular transport platform, offering robust quantum-safe data transmission.
The collaboration highlights several innovations, including a defence-in-depth security approach. Toshiba’s QKD technology generates encryption keys immune to interception, whilst Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) provides additional protection against quantum computing threats. This combination ensures comprehensive security for sensitive data against current and future quantum attacks.
The demonstration also features quantum-safe optical encryption, combining Toshiba’s platform with Ciena’s Waveserver 5. This integration allows for 800 Gbps encrypted communications without the need for dark fibre, reducing deployment costs and enabling secure data transmission on existing infrastructure.
SpeQtral, a strategic partner, plays a crucial role in designing and deploying quantum-ready networks for telecommunications and enterprise customers in Singapore. This collaboration facilitates the adoption of next-generation quantum-resilient data security, safeguarding digital infrastructure against emerging threats.
Hiroshi Tsukino, Corporate Vice President of Toshiba Corporation, stated, “Our joint efforts with Ciena and SpeQtral highlight the practical benefits of quantum-safe communication, ensuring that businesses in Singapore and Asia Pacific can operate securely and efficiently in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
Toshiba’s commitment to advancing quantum technology is further demonstrated by its achievements in quantum cryptography and the establishment of a $20m (local currency) Quantum Technology Centre in Cambridge. Visitors can experience Toshiba’s latest quantum-safe solutions at ATxSG 2025, Booth 3P38, Singapore Expo Hall 3, from 27 to 29 May.
