Southeast Asia’s blockchain technology sector has secured $6.2b in equity funding across 1,323 companies, according to a report by Tracxn Technologies. The report highlights that the sector’s funding peaked at $2.2b in 2022, with a notable decline to $319m in 2025, before recovering to $680m in 2026 year-to-date.
Crypto Financial Services emerged as the largest funding segment, raising $498m across 19 rounds over the past year, marking a 48.4% increase year-on-year. This surge was primarily driven by CRYPTO’s $400m Series D round. Other significant segments include Digital Asset Fractionalisation Platforms and Dapp Development Platforms, which raised $114m and $77m, respectively.
The report underscores the concentration of funding within a small number of companies, with Singapore accounting for 82.5% of the total funding and hosting 2,285 of the 3,957 tracked companies. Jakarta contributes 3% of the funding, whilst Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, and Makati each account for around 1%.
Acquisitions remain the primary exit strategy in the region, with 43 acquisitions compared to just four IPOs. Notable acquisitions in 2026 include SBI Group’s purchase of CoinHako and Bybit’s acquisition of NOBI. The average acquisition occurs 6.2 years from first funding, with an average price of $54.9m.
The report also notes the rapid formation of unicorns in the region, with six companies reaching billion-dollar valuations in an average of 1.7 years from Series A, significantly faster than the global average of 5.5 years.
