HOYA launches lens to combat child myopia

HOYA Lens Singapore has introduced MiYOSMART iQTF, its latest innovation in myopia control spectacle lenses, aimed at children. This new lens combines Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) Technology with a Triple Enhanced Design (TED), and has demonstrated significant effectiveness in a recent clinical trial. The trial, conducted with 196 schoolchildren in Hong Kong aged 4 to 12, revealed that 9 out of 10 children experienced no clinically relevant progression of myopia within the first 12 months of wearing the lenses.

The MiYOSMART iQTF lens builds upon the established MiYOSMART platform, which has been clinically proven to slow myopia progression by an average of 60%. The new TED features three enhancements: Activated Defocus segments, which target the near-peripheral retina; increased defocus power for a stronger myopic defocus signal; and an extended treatment zone for broader peripheral visual field coverage.

John Goltermann Lassen, CEO of HOYA Vision Care, stated, “This milestone is truly a generational leap in myopia control and represents an important step towards the vision we are committed to shaping for children around the world.”

MiYOSMART iQTF is available in four options, including clear lenses and Chameleon Photochromic lenses, which adapt to changing light conditions. The lenses also feature HOYA Full Control Coating for added protection and durability.

With this launch, HOYA Vision Care continues to advance its portfolio in myopia management, offering non-invasive solutions for children and supporting eye care professionals in their practice.
