Leader Energy Group Berhad has commenced construction on its 99MWac solar project, Leader Solar Energy III (LSE III), in Mukim Kuala Ketil, Kedah. The project, awarded under Malaysia’s Large-Scale Solar 5+ (LSS5+) Programme, is expected to be operational by 2027. This initiative is part of Leader Energy’s ongoing efforts to enhance Malaysia’s renewable energy infrastructure and support the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
The groundbreaking ceremony, officiated by the company’s founder, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri H’ng Bok San, marks a significant step from planning to construction. Leader Energy’s Executive Deputy Chairman and Group CEO, Dato’ Sean H’ng, emphasised the project’s role in the company’s commitment to Malaysia’s energy transition. “Today’s groundbreaking marks an important milestone for Leader Energy as we begin construction of LSE III. This project reflects our continued commitment to supporting Malaysia’s energy transition through reliable, high-quality renewable energy infrastructure,” he stated.
Leader Energy has a proven track record in Kedah, having previously developed two successful solar projects under Malaysia’s first Large-Scale Solar programme. The new project will further contribute to the national grid, aligning with the company’s broader strategy to develop renewable energy infrastructure across Asia.
With over 30 years in the power industry, Leader Energy aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable energy solutions. The company continues to expand its portfolio, focusing on solar, wind, hydro, and energy storage systems across six Asian markets.
