Barclays has announced the appointment of Wee Yee-Yeong as Head of Private Bank Singapore and Head of Private Bank Asia. Yee-Yeong, who will be based in Singapore, is set to join the bank later this year. He will spearhead Barclays’ private banking operations in Singapore and adopt a market-led strategy for the region, collaborating closely with the bank’s distribution teams to serve international Asian clients.
Yee-Yeong transitions to Barclays from Morgan Stanley, where he currently serves as Chief Executive and Head of Sales for the Singapore wealth management division. With over 20 years of experience in wealth management, he has held senior roles at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Merrill Lynch. He will succeed Alexander Harrison, the Interim Head of Private Bank Singapore.
The appointment coincides with the recent launch of Barclays Private Bank’s Singapore booking centre, underscoring the bank’s commitment to expanding its footprint in a key global wealth management hub. Annabelle Bryde, Head of Barclays Private Bank International, highlighted Singapore’s significance as a growth gateway in Asia Pacific, stating, “Yee-Yeong’s deep regional expertise and client relationships will help us build on the momentum we have established in the region.”
Jaideep Khanna, CEO of Asia Pacific at Barclays, remarked on the strategic importance of Asia Pacific for the bank, noting that Yee-Yeong’s leadership will enhance relationships with entrepreneurs and international clients. Yee-Yeong expressed enthusiasm for his new role, saying, “I look forward to working across the bank to deepen client relationships and support the international needs of entrepreneurs, family offices and globally connected clients across the region.”
