The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC (AAK) have signed a Statement of Intent to elevate technical cooperation in civil aviation. This agreement, signed on 29 October 2026 by CAAS Director-General Han Kok Juan and AAK CEO Michael Daniel, aims to strengthen ties and enhance the flow of people and goods between the two regions.
Singapore and Kazakhstan, key aviation hubs in Southeast Asia and Central Asia respectively, have seen significant growth in air traffic. The new partnership will focus on areas such as aviation safety, sustainability, innovation, and training. This expands on a 2024 agreement that provided aviation training programmes in Kazakhstan.
The two authorities plan to formalise this cooperation with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the first half of 2027. This MOU will establish an annual meeting, alternating between Singapore and Kazakhstan, to review progress and explore further collaboration opportunities.
Han Kok Juan stated, “The signing of this Statement of Intent is a testament to the shared commitment of the two civil aviation authorities to deepen cooperation.” Michael Daniel added, “We see significant value in exchanging experience and best practices in risk-based oversight, aviation safety and security.”
The collaboration is expected to create new economic opportunities and enhance professional development for aviation specialists in both countries.
