Singlife, a prominent financial services company, has announced a partnership with NHG Health to improve access to specialist care for its customers in Singapore. This collaboration aims to address the growing need for digestive health services, as digestive scopes account for nearly 20% of Singlife Shield hospitalisation claims. The partnership will provide Singlife Integrated Shield customers access to specialist digestive care across NHG Health’s network, including the newly opened Digestive Health Centre at Woodlands Hospital.
The initiative reflects the significant burden of gastrointestinal conditions in Singapore, with colorectal cancer being the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among both men and women. Between 2019 and 2023, nearly 13,000 new cases were recorded. The partnership will explore value-based care models, focusing on patient outcomes and recovery, whilst promoting consistency and value in healthcare delivery.
NHG Health’s experience with Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) will be leveraged to support patients through consultation, surgery, and rehabilitation, contributing to shorter hospital stays and fewer complications. The collaboration also aims to develop bundled and fixed-rate models for selected procedures, such as total knee replacement surgery, to optimise healthcare resources.
Helen Shen, Group Head of Products at Singlife, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “By bringing together our strengths, we are charting a better way towards a more sustainable healthcare system.” Adjunct Associate Professor Joe Hau, CEO of Woodlands Hospital, added, “Our partnership with Singlife brings together clinical expertise and financing perspectives to better support patients throughout their health journey.”
This partnership builds on the existing cooperative relationship between Singlife and NHG Health, which began in 2024, focusing on population health, integrated care, and healthcare innovation.
