Unitrade Industries Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest building materials wholesalers, has announced a significant 68.5% increase in net profit for the first quarter of FY27, reaching RM10.9m This marks the first time since the third quarter of FY24 that the company has achieved a quarterly net profit exceeding RM10m. The surge in profit is attributed to robust performance in its core wholesale and distribution business, alongside contributions from its renewable energy segment.
Revenue for the quarter ending 30 June 2026 rose by 4.3% year-on-year to RM418.8m. The wholesale and distribution segment, which accounted for 57.2% of total revenue, saw a 23.7% increase in revenue to RM239.7m, driven by improved market demand. Meanwhile, the renewable energy segment experienced a 71.9% rise in revenue, reflecting growing demand for solar products.
Unitrade’s Managing Director, Nomis Sim Siang Leng, expressed satisfaction with the results, noting, “This is the first quarter in more than two years that we have breached the RM10m net profit mark. What we have delivered this quarter came from the underlying business—stronger demand, better product mix, disciplined pricing, and tighter inventory and credit management.”
Looking ahead, Unitrade is poised to benefit from Malaysia’s ongoing infrastructure developments and energy transition initiatives. The company remains optimistic about its prospects for FY27, despite potential challenges such as commodity price fluctuations and foreign exchange rate volatility.
