The United Kingdom and Singapore convened for the 11th UK-Singapore Financial Dialogue in Singapore on 20 October 2026, aiming to enhance collaboration in digital finance, capital markets, and sustainable finance. The meeting reaffirmed the robust partnership between the two nations, focusing on digital innovation, market reforms, and environmental finance.
During the dialogue, both countries exchanged insights on digital finance, particularly in digital assets, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum technologies. Key initiatives discussed included Singapore’s Project Guardian and the UK’s Wholesale Financial Markets Digital Strategy. The dialogue also highlighted the importance of safe AI adoption, with Singapore’s SAFR initiative and the UK’s AI Adoption Plan for Financial Services being focal points.
In capital markets, the UK shared updates on its capital markets reforms, whilst Singapore discussed measures to enhance its equities market. Both nations are working to bolster their growth capital ecosystems, with the UK highlighting the British Business Bank’s initiatives and Singapore detailing its Growth Capital Workgroup.
Sustainable finance was another critical area of discussion. The UK presented its Transition Finance Pilot and related guidelines, whilst Singapore shared its experiences with the Financial Sector Carbon Market Grant and revisions to the Singapore-Asia Taxonomy.
Looking ahead, the UK will assume the G20 Presidency in 2027, and Singapore will chair ASEAN. Both countries discussed priorities for these roles and opportunities for collaboration. The dialogue will be followed by a UK-Singapore business roundtable on 21 October, focusing on international cooperation. The 12th dialogue is scheduled to be hosted by the UK in 2027.
