DBS has announced that Anthony Lim, a current Board member, will take over as Chairman of the Board from Peter Seah, who is set to retire on 31 December 2026. Lim’s appointment, effective from 1 January 2027, is part of the bank’s ongoing leadership renewal strategy. Seah, who has been at the helm since 2010, will continue as a Senior Adviser for a year post-retirement.
Under Seah’s leadership, DBS has seen substantial growth and transformation, with the bank’s income tripling and net profit increasing fourfold since 2010. In July 2026, DBS’s market capitalisation surpassed S$200b, establishing it as Singapore’s largest listed company. Seah’s tenure also saw DBS being recognised globally, earning titles such as World’s Best Bank and Asia’s Safest Bank.
Lim, who joined the DBS Boards in April 2020, has been instrumental in management succession planning and remuneration governance. His previous roles at GIC and Bankers Trust have equipped him with a global perspective and extensive financial markets experience. Lim expressed his honour at being appointed, stating, “DBS is an iconic Singapore institution… I look forward to working closely with the Board and management to sustain DBS’ momentum.”
DBS CEO Tan Su Shan praised Seah’s strategic oversight and welcomed Lim’s appointment, highlighting his invaluable perspectives on various issues. As DBS continues to strengthen its position as a trusted, pan-Asian bank, Lim’s leadership is expected to guide the bank through an increasingly complex operating environment.
