SBI Digital Markets, a subsidiary of SBI Holdings, and Ember Protocol have announced a partnership to explore the tokenisation and onchain distribution of institutional real-world assets (RWAs) on Arbitrum, a blockchain platform developed by Offchain. This collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding, aims to leverage SBI Digital Markets’ expertise in asset origination and distribution with Ember’s tokenisation infrastructure.
The partnership will focus on the entire product lifecycle, from structuring and issuing assets to investor subscription and redemption, as well as accessing settlement and secondary markets. Ibra Barbery, Co-Founder of Ember Protocol, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We’re excited to bring SBI Digital Markets’ institutional reach together with Ember’s onchain infrastructure and open the door to a new generation of tokenised investment products.”
Initially, the partnership will target RWA products for deployment on Arbitrum, which already hosts a large financial ecosystem with active capital and participants. CK Ong, Acting CEO of SBI Digital Markets, highlighted the potential of tokenisation to transform investment products, noting the importance of considering asset suitability and investor risk.
Steven Goldfeder, Co-Founder and CEO of Offchain, emphasised Arbitrum’s role in providing the necessary infrastructure for tokenisation, allowing products to reach active markets from the outset. This partnership marks a significant step in advancing digital capital markets by integrating traditional financial services with blockchain technology.
