The Singapore Exchange (SGX) has identified 30 of the most actively traded stocks that have shown sustained improvements in their bid-offer spreads over the past year. These stocks, spanning sectors such as technology, industrials, and real estate, generated a combined average daily trading value (ADT) of S$459m as of 20 October 2026.
SGX’s analysis compared five-session averages of daily time-weighted bid-offer spreads across four reference dates: 20 October 2025, and 20 April, 20 July, and 20 October 2026. Notably, Aoxin Q & M, PC Partner Group, and First REIT recorded the largest reductions in spreads, with decreases of 91%, 75%, and 69% respectively.
The narrowing of bid-offer spreads is significant as it reduces transaction costs and enhances trading efficiency, making it easier for investors to enter and exit positions. Among the highlighted stocks, DBS Group Holdings, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, and CSE Global were noted for their active trading. For instance, DBS Group Holdings saw its spread narrow from 2.5 to 1.8 basis points over the year.
The report underscores the importance of sustained spread improvements, which were observed across all three historical reference levels for these stocks. This trend indicates a more efficient market environment, potentially attracting more investors.
Looking ahead, the continued monitoring of bid-offer spreads will be crucial for assessing market efficiency and investor engagement on the SGX.
