Visa has announced the establishment of six global capability hubs at its new Solution Centre in Paya Lebar Green, Singapore, aimed at advancing technologies for its global payments network. The centre will host over 1,500 professionals specialising in technology, product, cybersecurity, engineering, and innovation. The hubs will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), next-generation payments, and trust, security, and resilience.
The initiative is part of Visa’s long-standing commitment to Singapore, which has been central to its operations in Asia Pacific for nearly five decades. Rajat Taneja, President of Technology at Visa, stated, “We’re entering an extraordinary period of commerce innovation, driven by AI, digital money and other emerging technologies.”
The hubs will explore AI applications in payments and fintech, research digital money and stablecoins, and enhance cybersecurity measures. They will also investigate quantum computing applications for financial services. Stephen Karpin, Regional President for Asia Pacific at Visa, highlighted Singapore’s role in solving complex questions around payments innovation and digital money.
Visa will collaborate with partners across academia, government, and the fintech ecosystem, including AXS, DBS, and FOMO Pay. The Singapore Economic Development Board noted that Visa’s investment will create high-value jobs and bolster Singapore’s role in developing innovative financial products.
Visa’s expanded presence aims to accelerate the development of technologies that can be deployed globally. The company will showcase its commitment to innovation at the Singapore Fintech Festival from 18-20 November 2026.
